Jaipuri Cotton Quilts (Razai)

The Jaipuri razai is famous for being warm yet light. A soft cotton filling is spread evenly and held in place by fine quilting, and the cover is printed by hand in traditional designs.

It folds small for storage and suits most indoor winters in North India.

Why Jaipuri quilts

• Light: much lighter than a heavy cotton razai.
• Warm: even cotton filling traps warmth.
• Breathable: pure cotton covers do not trap sweat.
• Compact: folds small for summer storage.

A classic Jaipur gift

Jaipuri quilts are a traditional wedding, Diwali and housewarming gift. See housewarming gifts and Diwali gifts.

How to care for it

• Dry cleaning is safest for Jaipuri quilts.
• Air the quilt in the shade every few weeks to keep it fresh.
• Use a cotton cover to keep it clean between washes.
• Store folded in a breathable cotton bag, not plastic.

Small variations in colour and alignment are natural in hand block printing. They show the piece was made by hand, and no two are exactly the same.
