The Story of Blockart
Where Jaipur's block printing heritage meets everyday style
Beginnings in Jaipur
Our story starts in Jaipur, where Chhipa families have printed cloth by hand for hundreds of years. Our family is one of them. We grew up around carved wooden blocks, dye vats and fabric drying in the sun.
The Craft Kept Changing
Every generation added something. New motifs, new colours, lighter fabrics. The method stayed the same: one block, one hand, one print at a time. We still work that way, just with designs that suit how people dress today.
A Hard Living for Printers
For years, printers in our area sold through long chains of middlemen and earned very little for skilled, slow work. We wanted the people who make the cloth to sell it directly and get a fair price for it.
The Birth of Blockart
Founded by Preeti Chhipa, a third-generation artisan, Blockart rises from a family legacy where block printing was a way of life. It was created to take Jaipur's handcrafted heritage beyond workshops and markets, connecting it directly with those who value authenticity and the human touch.
Selling Online
So we started selling online. Today an order placed in Delhi, Bengaluru or London is packed at our Jaipur unit and shipped straight to the customer, with Cash on Delivery across India.
Blockart Today
We print sarees, suits, kurtis, dresses and bedsheets, run a tailoring boutique, and keep a store on New Sanganer Road. Come and see the blocks if you are in Jaipur.

Your Guide to Hand Block Print Clothing
Choose the right fabric, fit and print in a minute
Which fabric for which season?
In hot, humid weather pick cotton mulmul, Kota Doria or linen: they are light, breathable and quick to dry. For cooler evenings and festive occasions, Chanderi, Maheshwari and modal silk add a soft sheen while staying comfortable. At home, our Jaipuri quilts and cotton comforters keep you warm without feeling heavy.
Stitched or unstitched?
Want to wear it right away? Choose stitched suits and kurti sets in standard sizes. Prefer a tailored fit or your own neckline? Choose unstitched dress material; each set has about 2.5 metres each of top, bottom and dupatta fabric. Boutiques and home tailors can also buy block print fabric by the metre.
Why is every piece slightly different?
Each motif is stamped by hand with a carved wooden block, so small changes in colour depth and alignment are natural. They are the signature of handmade work, not defects. Colours on screen can also look a little different from the real fabric.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about our prints, orders and delivery
What is hand block printing?
Hand block printing is a centuries-old Indian textile craft in which artisans carve designs into wooden blocks, dip them in colour and stamp them onto fabric by hand, one impression at a time. Small variations in colour and alignment are natural and make every piece unique.
Where are Blockart products made?
Blockart is based in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Our sarees, suits, kurtis, dresses and home furnishings are hand block printed by artisans of the Chhipa community, using Jaipur's traditional Bagru and Sanganeri techniques along with crafts like Ajrakh, Dabu and Kota Doria.
What is the difference between Bagru and Sanganeri prints?
Bagru prints come from the village of Bagru near Jaipur and usually have earthy, natural colours on darker or dyed grounds. Sanganeri prints come from Sanganer, also near Jaipur, and are known for fine, delicate floral motifs on light backgrounds. Explore Bagru print sarees and Sanganeri print sarees.
Is Cash on Delivery available?
Yes. You can pay by Cash on Delivery or pay online. COD orders are confirmed on WhatsApp before they ship.
Do you deliver across India?
Yes, Blockart delivers across India. You can check the expected delivery date for your PIN code on any product page. See shipping charges for details.
Should I choose a stitched or an unstitched suit?
Choose a stitched suit or kurti set if you want to wear it straight away in a standard size. Choose unstitched dress material if you want your own fit, neckline and style; each unstitched set includes about 2.5 metres each of top, bottom and dupatta fabric.
How should I wash hand block printed cotton?
Unless the product page says dry clean, wash hand block printed cotton gently in cold water with a mild detergent, wash it separately for the first few washes, and dry it in the shade to keep the colours bright.
How can I track my order or get help?
Track your order on the Track Order page, or raise a request from Help & Support in your account. You can also message us on WhatsApp; our team replies Monday to Saturday, 10 AM to 6 PM.
